The Customs Festival from Oasului Country is a contest-festival dedicated to the winter holidays. Organised every year on the third day of Christmas in the Negresti-Oas town, the event debuts with a carroler parade made out of authentic carroler groups which showcase the costumes from their specific geographic areas.
The festival is by itself a collection of stories about local traditions, reunited in an event meant to remind everyone about the values of the local culture. Even in modern times, the neglect of native traditions brings uprooting with itself.
The groups of participants, such as carolers, folcloric ensambles, and many others, are evaluated by a jury based on the most original number, the authenticity of the carols and their costumes. Each group of carolers participating in the contest presents a 5 minute artistic number and in the end, the proud jury chooses the winners. The festival is organized by the City Hall and Local Council of Negresti-Oas, the local Culture House in partnership with the Museum of Oasului Country, The National Information and Touristic Promotion Centre Negresti-Oas and the County Centre for Conserving and Promoting Traditional Culture Satu Mare.
